NGS is used to measure the concentration of thorium, uranium and potassium in the formations.NGS adopts scintillation ***ector to ***ect natural gamma rays in the formation near the borehole. The output pulse amplitude of the ***ector is proportional to the incident gamma ray energy. Five energy windows are set and spectrum stabilizing technique is used in the design. The count rates taken from each energy window are sent to the surface system and processed. Then the concentration of uranium, thorium and potassium is calculated.
