LDS sonde includes a Cs137 gamma ray source and two scintillation ***ectors, which are applied against the borehole wall by means of an eccentering arm. Due to Compton scattering and photoelectric effect, LDS is able to measure the gamma ray in different energy windows so as to give the measurements of bulk density and photoelectric factor (Pe). With long ***cing and short ***cing count rates, correction for the effects of mud cake and borehole rugosity is made. The corrected bulk density can be ***ermined.
